Waxing philosophic with turnips

The turnip harvest was completed yesterday and I picked the gigundo turnip--about 5 lbs worth. It was amazingly firm inside, too! I had to cut it into four sections so it would fit in my little waxing bucket. Everyone got dipped and put into cold storage. Just wait until people find out they may get one as a prize for visiting Catfish Corner!

Neighbors just gave us a harvest of turnips even bigger than what's in your photo. I need to wax them! What kind of wax do you use?

Thanks,

Plain old paraffin wax! Noting your address--I should tell you, eating raw turnips with some dip for one meal a day resulted in a nice weight loss for me this summer! Actually, it was just the fact that I had greens of one form or another for one meal and/or snacks that cut down on calories. Felt so good all summer!

Yes, I went ahead and used plain old wax - worked great! You've confirmed my fear that the name of my site might sound like it's about losing ten pounds in ten weeks (or months or days), when it's actually about reducing CO2 emissions by 10% in 2010 (like the 10:10Global.org campaign). Oh, well, that said, you're right. I lost two clothing sizes without even trying and I think it was because I eat a big bowl of my cabbage soup at lunch every single day. Maybe all that roughage helps speed through some of the calorie-intensive stuff we eat.
